Back in Motion History

In 1992 Back in Motion was established in a gym setting with a traditional background of Sports and Manipulative Physiotherapy. Graeme Moginie initially set up the clinic and he was joined by Dusty Quinn in 1998 and the third director – Kerryn Tutty – become part of the management team in 2007. All directors have achieved post-graduate qualifications in Manipulative Physiotherapy and Acupuncture offering a variety of services to clients.

The need for more specialised rehabilitation - that Clinical Pilates offered – resulted in the company establishing the two practices in Dunedin. Professionally appointed Pilates Studios were developed in Albany Street and Centre City Mall.

Back in Motion has a close relationship with local industry offering work site assessments, health and safety seminars and early injury management. The focus on comprehensive rehabilitation has also lead Back in Motion holding several contracts with ACC – return to work contracts, physical rehabilitation contracts and severe injury contracts including head injuries.

Alongside physiotherapy, many other services have been developed for clients. These include: MassagePilates, ‘Pink Pilates’ - for rehabilitation after breast cancer surgery to “Breathing works” – specialised management of breathing pattern disorders. The latter two services being unique to Back in Motion in Dunedin. Neurological rehabilitation is offered for such conditions as multiple sclerosis, stroke survivors to head injuries and concussion. A Vestibular and Dizziness management service/clinic is offered at our Albany Street premises.
