Back In Motion is proud to be the Dunedin's only provider of 'Pink Pilates', supporting women with cancer.
Pink Pilates provides a full range of therapeutic and rehabilitative services designed to look after you following surgery and cancer treatments. All Pink Pilates services are provided by fully trained and experienced physiotherapists, with specialist training in cancer rehabilitation. Our team is here to support, motivate and encourage you, while offering the best care and professional advice.
Pink Pilates was initially developed to care for and rehabilitate women diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2011, due to the success of the programme, it has now advanced to encompass all women with a cancer diagnosis. Physiotherapy following cancer surgery is important for reducing pain and regaining full function of the affected area. Our role is to also promote the benefits of exercise in reducing cancer recurrence and for each individual’s overall well being.
The Pink Pilates Physiotherapy Programme incorporates manual therapy for joints and soft tissue, identification of any musculoskeletal issues, advice and education regarding cancer fatigue management and lymphodema care, massage, strength and conditioning exercises with the aim of restoring full functional strength and pre diagnosis leisure activities. We aim to provide support and in conjunction with the programme, help women to improve their self esteem and confidence.
Our physiotherapists can advise you on how you can maximise your recovery. We are proud to bring this unique and beneficial programme to Dunedin and have been inspired by the women that have undertaken this programme with us.
This is a privately funded health programme. The Pink Pilates Trust is dedicated to fundraising for the Pink Pilates programme and is proud to be able to provide subsidised rates for all women that present within 2 years of their diagnosis of breast cancer only. Back in Motion is actively involved with fundraising at a local level.
